Indonesia has a huge culinary potential to be developed. In fact, in 2017, one of the signature dish of Minangkabau, Rendang, became the most delicious food in the world according to the CNN International Newspaper. This indirectly proves that the culinary from local are able to compete in international area.

There are lots of delicious foods in Indonesia besides Rendang. And in my opinion, soto mie from Bogor is one of the most delicious food you should taste.

Soto mie is one of the most popular culinary in Indonesia. Soto Mie is Indonesian noodle soup dish commonly found in Indonesia especially in Bogor. Mie means noodle made of flour, salt and egg, while soto refers to Indonesian soup.

Soto mie uses cow meats and beef gravels as basic ingredients. In addition, soto mie are equipped with risoles, rice vermicelli, yellow noodles, chips, tomatoes, lime, and sambal. The addition of vinegar, sweet soy sauce, and chili sauce makes this rainy city signature dish more delicious.

You can make soto mie by yourself at home, because it is easy to make and it’s only took couple hours. These are the ingredients for 3 servings: meats  - 250 gram, beef gravels- 150 gram,  garlic, onion, lemongrass, 3cm of galangal, 3cm of ginger, 3 lime leaves, lime,  1tsp salt, ½ tsp sugar, ½ tsp pepper, 1l water, yellow noodles – 150 gram, rice vermicelli – 50 gram, cabbage – 500 gram cut into small pieces, 2 tomatoes, 4 risoles, 1 spring onion cut into small pieces, celery cut into small pieces, and the last thing is 1tsp fried onion.

Here is the steps:
1. Boil the beef gravels until tender. Remove and drain. Discard the cooking water. After chilling, cut into pieces and set aside.
2. Boil the meat until tender. Remove the meat and drain. After chilling, cut the meat into pieces and set aside. Take boiled water.
3. In a saucepan, boil the water with the water that used to boil the meat before. Set aside.
4. In a skillet, heat the oil. Saute the garlic and red onion until fragrant. Remove and pour the stir-fry into the cooking pot. Stir well.
5. Add lemongrass, galangal, ginger, lime leaves, salt, sugar, and pepper. Mix well and continue cooking until it boils. Turn off the heat.
6. Arrange yellow noodles and rice vermicelli in a serving bowl. Add cabbage, tomatoes, risoles, pieces of meat and beef gravels, spring onion, celery, lime, and fried onions. Pour the soup. And soto mie is ready to serve!

You can also try this tips: Separate between boiling meat and beef gravels. So that the soup is clear, do not use water from the beef gravels stew. When boiling meat, do not forget to lift and remove the foam and other impurities that float on the cooking surface.
